Christmas 2025: The Gift of Grounding

Dear wonderful humans,
Twelve months ago, I wrote about letting go of the ghosts of Christmas past. It was a cathartic moment of releasing the old versions of ourselves and the ones that try to hold everything together, even when we know it doesn’t fit anymore.
This year feels different. This year, I want to think about the lessons we have learnt to ground ourselves in what has felt like a year rushing past, and just take a second to pause, recognise our accomplishments, and let ourselves feel the joy of what has been. In many ways, this year has quietly taught me the gift of grounding.
After years of moving, changing countries, living up to social expectations, then transforming into a small world for some in a caravan, and learning to find peace within myself, we’ve settled back into something that looks like “normal.” But as I’ve learned, normal is not the opposite of extraordinary; it’s where gratitude hides. It’s the quiet cup of coffee before the day begins, the laughter coming from the hallway, the walk home from school as a little hand reaches out sticky and full of love, it’s the moment when I pause between clients, filled with so much gratitude to be supporting them I sit and realise, this is the life I once dreamed of building.

Running a business like Momentum Growth Coaching doesn’t come wrapped in tinsel and ease. It asks for grit, discipline, and a deep relationship with uncertainty. Some days it’s spreadsheets and late nights. Other days it’s pure magic, the kind that makes your stomach flip because you just watched someone shift, right in front of you. Their whole face softens, their posture changes, their language rewrites itself. You can see their unconscious mind say, I’m safe now.
That’s when the butterflies come back.
Those are the moments that remind me why we do this work and why NLP isn’t just a professional tool, but a way of life. In my reflections on the year, I realised that NLP taught me that meaning is never fixed; it’s created. That every state, every story, every reaction can be reframed. That awareness isn’t just noticing what’s happening, but it’s choosing how to meet it.
That has been the practice of this year: learning to meet life differently.
When you’ve lived in motion, in caravans, in change, in uncertainty, it’s easy to crave stillness but not know how to hold it. NLP reminds us that our state creates our experience. If chaos is the external weather, presence is the anchor. And that anchor, this gift of grounding has been one of the greatest lessons of 2025.
So, this year, I’ve practised choosing my state on purpose.
When the business felt heavy, I paused and asked: What’s the meaning I’m making right now?
When things went beautifully right, I anchored that emotion because joy deserves just as much rehearsal as resilience and when I found myself in old patterns of pressure, I used one of NLP’s simplest questions: What else could this mean?
It’s remarkable how much peace arrives when you stop fighting what is and start reframing how you see it.
This Christmas, that’s my reflection and my wish for you.
To give yourself permission to settle, to soften, to let “enough” be enough.
To notice the quiet moments that are already whole.
To remember that transformation isn’t always loud or cinematic. Sometimes it’s a breath, a pause, a small act of choosing differently.
This season isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence.
When we are fully here, we can connect, influence, and love more consciously. This is the real gift of grounding. The ability to return to yourself, no matter what the world is doing.
So, as the lights twinkle and the year begins to close, I want to thank you, our clients, students, community, and friends for walking this path with us, for trusting this work, for believing in what’s possible when awareness meets action.
May your Christmas be full of the simple magic of being exactly where you are, and may the year ahead bring you grounded joy, calm confidence, and the courage to keep choosing who you want to become.
Merry Christmas.
With love,
Vikki
